Instructions: Document your work each class. Use the guiding questions and examples that apply to what you did that day. Include pictures, sketches, measurements, or screenshots when helpful.
Day 1
— Date: 10/29/26
1. What was your goal or plan for today?
Read through the Robo Rally article and take notes while learning what different things are, Measure my robot.
2. What did you work on today?
I worked on my engineering notebook, taking notes in it from the article. The tasks I completed were
4. What challenges did you encounter?
- What problems, errors, or failures occurred?
- What did you try to fix or improve?
- What worked or didn’t work?
- What would you change about your design or approach?
5. What did you learn, and what comes next?
What I learned was what scale was, in the article it says, “Scale is the relationship or ratio between a set distance on a map or drawing and its corresponding distances in real life.” Scale is basically units between a distance and distance in real life, which is what I will use for my robot. My robot comes out to be 13 and 1/2 inches wide and 13 and 3/8 long. What comes next is finishing the rest of my robot.

Robo Rally
Class 1 — Build & Explore
Date: 10/29/26 Goal: Build and explore the VEX V5 Speedbot.
Build Notes
- Some places use metric units, others use imperial units, which is why converting measurements is important when building.
- 1 meter = 100 centimeters = 1000 millimeters 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters = 25.4 millimeters = 0.0254 meters 1 yard = 3 feet = 36 inches = 914.4 millimeters 1 kilogram = 1000 grams 1 liter = .001 cubic meters
- To measure, we use scale, which is the relationship or ratio between a set distance on a map or drawing and its corresponding distances in real life.
